Observing Your Own Life
One of the many positives of getting older is that ease in observing of your own life. I was just sitting here listening to the birds sing and appreciating that as the only constant noise I hear at this time in the early morning. In my observation into my personal world I am very aware that this moment will soon be drowned out by the constant noise of the everyday world. But in this moment of observation I reaffirm my life is good.
Aging for me seems to have increased the number of opportunities in which I am capable of observing those little treasures of life. Simple pleasures in stopping and observing how great this all is. Glimpses of my world from a third party vantage point. What I have discovered is the best part of this whole thing is that the longer and more often I am in these moments of observance the less stressful life has become.
I wonder if this is what is meant by aging gracefully. After living nearly a half a century my stolen moments of observing my own life are the most peaceful times of all. I look forward to the next half a century in practice of these observations. Maybe by the time I take that last breath I will be considered an expert in the field.
